we had waited for this day
when a ray of light would penetrate the gloom of our lives
a person, a thought, a feeling had risen
and where before we hadn’t dared to hope
now, as the sun came up and all the birds sang
an overwhelming feeling of joy
had taken our hearts and made them dance

there is a good end to all of this,
our hearts sang, and in this life
we can praise the beauty of all things
and live in the joy of a presence
